Did you know that the average boiler lasts only about a decade? Those old hot water systems with a tank attached to them are prone to breakdown around the ten year mark, which means that you could suddenly be left in a stone cold shower one morning! The good news is that it is possible to identify some early symptoms of a hot water boiler that is on the verge of breaking down and can get expert service or replacement.
Looking for the Signs of Boiler Imminent Failure
If you notice any of the following, it could be time to call out one of the local Devon boilers – servicing, replacements and repairs:
- Rust: Inevitably, many older hot water systems will rust and corrode on the inside of the water tank. When this happens, it is common to see small brown rust particles in any hot water that comes from a tap.
- Leaks: It is always a good idea to do a visual check around the home’s hot water system every now and then. If you see any drips, leaks, or pools of water, it is time to call out an expert technician to come and have a look at it.
- Inefficient: If your hot water is cutting in and out, it could mean that there’s something wrong with the hot water system itself.
Call an Expert
It can be a real pain when the hot water system suddenly fails, but keeping an eye on it and looking for any symptoms of an imminent failure could mean the difference between a hot shower and a cold one!
